چکیده

Local destruction techniques for colorectal liver metastases, particularly radiofrequency, have been incorporated into clinical practice in the past 5 years. Only 10% to 25% of patients with colorectal hepatic metastases have tumours that are potentially resectable. Local techniques represent a chance of treatment in conjunction with resection or as a standalone procedure. It is difficult to compare ablation modalities. Results of studies examining these techniques are mostly restricted to reports of patient cases, which are often not presented in a standardised manner. Additionally, randomised controlled trials are rare. Radiofrequency is the most extensively studied treatment modality, and response rates and survival after radiofrequency therapy have been established. Cryoablation and microwave ablation are employed in the same clinical setting as radiofrequency, but have less favorable safety profiles. Other local ablation techniques such as electrolysis, chemoembolization or high-intensity focused ultrasound are under development for colorectal liver metastases. A Rare Presentation of Colorectal Cancer with Unusual Progressive Intramuscular and Subcutaneous Metastatic Spread

Colorectal carcinoma is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death, worldwide. Recently, due to the introduction of novel imaging and therapeutic techniques, five-year survival of patients has increased. However, distant metastasis is still expected in half of the patients. Colorectal cancer tends to target the abdominal cavity, liver, lungs, and bones as the common sites of metastas...

CT Findings of Locoregional Recurrence after Curative Resection of Colorectal Cancer

ty and mortality for patients treated for colorectal cancer. It has been reported that 40% to 50% of all patients undergoing potentially curative surgery for colorectal cancer will develop recurrence and they will die (1). After initial treatment, surveillance is widely practiced to identify recurrent metastatic disease at a time when potentially curative surgical resection is still possible. T...

The Place of Extensive Surgery in Locoregional Recurrence and Limited Metastatic Disease of Breast Cancer: Preliminary Results

UNLABELLED The aims of this study were first to clearly define two different entities: locoregional recurrences and limited metastatic disease and secondly to evaluate the place of extensive surgery in these two types of recurrence. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty-four patients were followed from June 2004 until May 2014. All patients underwent surgery but for 1 patient this surgery was stopped b...

Minimally invasive local therapies for liver cancer

Primary and metastatic liver tumors are an increasing global health problem, with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) now being the third leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide. Systemic treatment options for HCC remain limited, with Sorafenib as the only prospectively validated agent shown to increase overall survival. Surgical resection and/or transplantation, locally ablative therapi...

TNF-based isolated hepatic perfusion.

Unresectable primary and metastatic cancers confined to the liver often determine the prognosis for patients with primary hepatic cancers, colorectal cancer, ocular melanoma, and neuroendocrine tumors. Although many locoregional therapies have emerged as options for patients with unresectable liver malignancies, these treatments frequently have limited clinical benefit. Isolated hepatic perfusi...
